What’s the Best Macintosh Security Software?

Posted on by

Datamation asked this question recently, and author Ryan Faas looked at all the serious offerings in three categories: viruses and malware, network attacks, and spam.

His results don’t surprise us at Intego: “the best choice for consumers and for fully Mac-based businesses has to be Intego’s VirusBarrier,” he said, saying that the program is “simple, lightweight, and has a very Mac-like feel to it that make it a natural choice for many Mac users.”

For network attacks, he said, “Intego again gets my props for its NetBarrier firewall.” He liked the fact that the program is “designed to be easy to use…, but is also designed to offer easy configuration of more complex rules from a Mac-like GUI.”

Finally, for stopping spam, he said, “Intego’s offering in antispam category, appropriately named Personal Antispam, is another good choice.” And he made a comment about Personal Antispam that also applies to Intego’s other software: “As with their other tools, Intego has put an effort into making Antispam very user friendly.”

We’re always happy to find that those who compare Intego software with other companies’ tools find that Intego’s products stand out.
