VirusBarrier X5 Protects PCs From the Downadup Worm

Posted on by

There hasn’t been a virus threat this big in a long time, but a recent Windows virus, called Downadup, has already infected millions of Windows computers around the world. This is no threat to Macs, but, since VirusBarrier X5 also scans for Windows viruses, we’ve updated our virus definitions to protect against this nasty bit of malware. If you connect any infected disk, or insert any infected USB device, VirusBarrier X5 will spot the worm and eradicate it. This requires, of course, that you have Scan for Windows Viruses checked in VirusBarrier X5’s Scanner preferences.

If you use a Mac in a Windows environment, you should scan for Windows viruses. If Virus Barrier X5 spots the Downadup worm, make sure you tell your network administrator, or your friends and colleagues, so they can take steps to disinfect their Windows computers.
