Single Security Fix in Mac OS X 10.6.6 Update
Posted on by Peter James
Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.6, a 115 MB update whose main new feature is the Mac App Store, where Mac users can buy software as easily as from iTunes for iOS devices. In this update, there is a single security fix, which affects Software Update:
A format string issue exists in PackageKit’s handling of distribution scripts. A man-in-the-middle attacker may be able to cause an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution when Software Update checks for new updates.
As always, users can download this update via Software Update. Full information about this security fix is available here.
