In recent years, the CanSecWest computer security conference has tempted hackers (the good kind, supposedly) with Mac and Windows computers, but this year its Pwn2Own hacker contest will focus on web browsers and smartphones. Firefox 3, Safari, Internet Explorer and Opera are the targets in the browser contest, and the iPhone is one of the targets in the smartphone competition. ZDNet reminds readers that, in recent years, Apple has been singled out, when a MacBook Pro was hacked via a QuickTime flaw, and a Safari vulnerability was used to hack a Mac in under two minutes. We’ll keep you posted on any Safari weaknesses that are found in this year’s event.
