Mozilla Releases Firefox 3.5.3 with Security Fixes and Flash Version Check

Posted on by

The Mozilla foundation has released version 3.5.3 of its Firefox web browser, which contains several security fixes, and adds a new feature whereby the browser will check to see if users have the latest version of the Flash plugin when it redirects them to the “What’s new” web page.

We recently wrote about how Snow Leopard ships with an old, insecure version of Flash, but how users can’t easily find out that their version of the Flash plugin is out of date. Firefox remedies this by running a version check at startup, so Snow Leopard users who use Firefox will be able to always know if they are up-to-date.

Firefox 3.5.3 can be downloaded here, or using Firefox’s auto-update feature.
