Microsoft has announced the company will be ending support for Office for Mac 2008 on April 9, 2013. This announcement comes on short notice, just five days before mainstream support for Office for Mac 2008 will end.
Even though the software will no longer be supported and no new updates will be provided after April 9, it will remain functional, and Office users can still download updates for Office for Mac 2008 through April 19, 2014. Microsoft nonetheless recommends its affected users purchase an Office 365 subscription, which includes Office for Mac 2011 and all future upgrades to the product.
