iPhone Firmware Update Contains Security Fixes

Posted on by

Apple has release version 2.1 of its iPhone firmware, for both versions of iPhones (the original iPhone and the new 3G iPhone), and this update contains a number of security fixes. Apple has patched areas such as the application sandbox, CoreGraphics, and WebKit, and has patched a problem whereby users could bypass your passcode, which we discussed earlier: “An implementation issue in the handling of emergency calls allows users with physical access to an iPhone to launch an application without the passcode by double clicking the home button in emergency call.”

This update is only available via iTunes. More information is available here.
