iPhone and iPod touch Updates Contain Security Fixes

Posted on by

Apple yesterday released its iPhone OS 3.1, which brings enhancements to the iPhone and iPod touch, and also contains ten security fixes. This update patches, among others, CoreAudio (to counter maliciously crafted AAC or MP3 files), MobileMail (to prevent Spotlight from finding deleted e-mail messages), and WebKit (to prevent cross-scripting attacks and the use of look-alike characters in URLs).

The update is available through iTunes when syncing an iPhone or iPod touch.
