Change Your Password, Today!
Posted on by Derek Erwin
When was the last time you changed your passwords for your most commonly used online accounts? Do your email accounts each share the same password, and is it the same password as your social media accounts – or worse, your bank account? No matter what your password situation may be, today Intego encourages you to protect your digital life and change your password!
Given how valuable your personal data is to identity thieves, your passwords are of utmost importance. So much so that by protecting your own data, you may also help protect your friends’ digital life.
It’s important that your passwords be secure, yet not too hard to remember. Not only do passwords protect your Twitter or Facebook information, your personal blog and your e-mail account, but also many accounts linked to your credit card, such as your Amazon, eBay and PayPal accounts.
While a password manager is a great way to keep track of all your passwords and create a new ones, we recognize that password managers are not for everyone. For those who wish to change your password manually, take a few minutes to make a new one that’s strong, unique and uncrackable!
Need some help with new password ideas? Check out our previous tips on how to create secure passwords. For fun, you can head over to the site HowSecureIsMyPassword.net and test the strength of your password ideas. The site will tell you approximately how long it will take for a desktop computer to crack the password. (If it will take more than a few hundred million years to crack, you know it’s strong!)
We shared this on our Facebook page and Twitter accounts, and once you’ve changed your password we encourage you to do the same!
