Apple Two-Step Authentication Expands to New Countries

Posted on by

Almost two months ago, Apple released two-step authentication for Apple ID accounts. This was widely hailed as a great step in the right direction of improved password security. Those who applied the more stringent verification right when it became available might have even able to miss out on the excitement of a vulnerability in the iForgot page that was discovered (and fixed) a few days later.

Apple’s latest expansion will bring this feature that was previously available in five countries, to several additional countries. These are the first five countries:

  • Australia
  • Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • US
  • UK

And these are the additional countries:

  • Argentina
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • The Netherlands
  • Pakistan
  • Portugal
  • Russia

If you’re in one of those countries, you can be on the lookout for this to be available shortly. Apparently Canada has already been added, and the rest should follow suit in the days to come.
