Apple Issues QuickTime Security Update for Tiger and Leopard

Posted on by

Apple has issued a security update for QuickTime, but not for Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), the current version of their operating system. This update effects Mac OS X 10.4, Tiger, and 10.5, Leopard. With four fixes, related to “unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution” that can occur when viewing different types of maliciously crafted files, the new version of QuickTime also contains code necessary for iTunes 9, the latest version of Apple’s media management software which was released yesterday. Users can update using Software Update, or by downloading the standalone QuickTime installer here.
