What’s In a Name? New Trojan Is Variant of Old Trojan

Posted on by

With some web sites reporting a new Mac Trojan horse, we were initially a bit perplexed. Customers contacting Intego asked if we protected against the “OSX/Jahlav-C” Trojan horse, so we had to look around and see if we did. You see, Intego’s Virus Monitoring Center had no information about a new Trojan horse, but it looked curiously like the RSPlug Trojan horse and its variants that we have been warning about since October 31, 2007.

It seems that some security company, in order to get attention, simply gave a new name to the RSPLug Trojan horse, making users think there was a new menace. There’s not, and Intego VirusBarrier X5 protects against this variant of the RSPlug Trojan horse, as well as all others.
