Microsoft Releases Critical Update for Office 2008 and 2011

Posted on by

Microsoft has released updates for a number of its products, including Office 2003 and 2011 for Mac. These updates patch a critical vulnerability that:

could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted RTF file. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the current user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

Users of Microsoft Office can use the suite’s auto-updater to download the updates, or can download Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.3.3 Update or Microsoft Office 2011 14.2.2 Update.
